Coming soon

Our finance partner.

The mainstream referral relationship is being finalised. Until it is signed, the apply buttons across the site open a notice that the partner is coming soon, and no referral occurs.

We are a calculator and information site, not a lender. When the partner relationship is live, "Apply" will hand you off to a single vetted New Zealand-based loan comparison service. This page explains how that handoff will work and what changes hands.

Status

What "coming soon" means in practice.

Every "Apply" or "Get a rate" button on Carfinance.org.nz currently opens a small notice that reads "Finance Partner Coming Soon" and a brief explanation. Nothing leaves our domain. No personal information is collected here, and no third party receives a referral while the relationship is being finalised.

The calculator above is fully functional and stays anonymous. The numbers it produces are yours to keep, share, or take to any lender of your choice. When the partner is signed, the same buttons will route to their application.

What we are looking for

The criteria for a partner.

  • A registered New Zealand financial service provider that holds the credit framework to handle the actual conversation with you.
  • A multi-lender comparison panel rather than a single bank's book, so the application is checked against a meaningful spread of NZ lenders.
  • A short application that does not double as a marketing capture form, with a clear separation between car price and finance.
  • No separate broker fee charged to you. The cost of the referral sits on the partner's own margin, not on your loan.
  • A privacy and CCCFA disclosure framework on their domain, so personal information stays off ours.

How the referral will work

What will happen when you click "Apply".

Once the partner is named, the flow is the standard referral arrangement common across NZ comparison sites:

  1. Your browser will leave Carfinance.org.nz and open the partner's application on their domain. From that point on, you will be on their site under their privacy and CCCFA disclosures.
  2. The partner will assess your application against their lender panel. They will collect the information a lender needs (identity, income, existing debts, the vehicle) and run the affordability checks required under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act.
  3. If approved, the partner passes the application to the lender best matched to your profile. The lender makes the final credit decision and sets the rate, term, and fees.
  4. If declined, the partner tells you why (to the extent the lender permits) and where possible suggests next steps. That could be a different lender on their panel or a different loan shape.

What we will earn

The commission arrangement.

When you apply through a link on our site and the partner approves you, we will receive a referral commission from them. The practical details:

  • You will pay nothing extra for using our referral link. The commission will come out of the partner's own margin, not out of your loan.
  • Our commission will be fixed per approved application. We do not get paid more for a larger loan, a longer term, or a higher rate, so we have no incentive to nudge you toward one shape of loan over another.
  • The commission will only be paid on approved applications, not on clicks. We do not earn anything from you simply visiting the partner's site or starting an application you do not finish.

Your right to shop around

Applying through our future partner will not lock you in. If you receive an offer and decide you would rather take it to your own bank or another lender, you will be free to do that. An approval is an offer, not an obligation.

Why one partner, not a panel

A deliberate choice.

Some sites rotate visitors across a dozen lenders. We will pick one. The reasoning is that a single vetted partner means we can stand behind the experience you get after clicking through, rather than treating the click as the end of our responsibility. If a partner consistently fails to serve Carfinance.org.nz visitors well, we will change partners. The aim is one honest handoff, not a scatter-gun of lead-capture pages.

In the meantime, run the numbers.

The calculator is fully functional and stays anonymous. Get your indicative weekly repayment first; the partner referral will go live here when the relationship is signed.

Disclaimer

A car loan is a commitment that runs for years, and repayments come out of the same pay cheque as everything else. Before committing, it is worth modelling the weekly and monthly cost against the household budget, which is what this site is built to help with. Borrowing at a level that stays comfortable on a bad week, not a good one, is widely regarded as the safer frame.

Carfinance.org.nz earns a commission from a partner brand when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. That commission is paid by the partner, not the applicant, and it does not influence the rate the lender offers. We refer every visitor to the same partner because they compare multiple New Zealand lenders on the applicant's behalf, so the recommendation is not driven by a sponsored deal. Every figure shown on this site is a modelled estimate based on the inputs entered; the actual rate, fees, and repayments are set by the lender after assessing the applicant's circumstances and own credit decision. Carfinance.org.nz is a calculator and information tool. We are not a lender, not a broker, and not a registered financial adviser. Any decision about whether a specific loan suits a specific situation is best made after talking with the lender, and for amounts that materially affect the household, with a registered financial adviser.
