Using this site.

By using Carfinance.org.nz you accept these terms. If you do not, please stop using the site. The site is provided for information and calculation purposes for residents of New Zealand.

Carfinance.org.nz is an information and calculator service. We are not a registered financial advice provider under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 and do not hold a Financial Advice Provider licence. Everything on this site is general information ("class information" in regulatory terms), not personalised advice. We do not know individual financial circumstances, goals, or risk tolerance, and nothing here is a recommendation for any specific individual. Readers seeking advice that takes their own situation into account are encouraged to consult a licensed financial adviser.

Calculator outputs are indicative.

The calculator uses a standard amortisation formula to convert the inputs (amount, rate, term, deposit) into indicative weekly, fortnightly, and monthly repayments. These numbers are illustrative only. They are not a quote, not an offer of credit, and not a commitment from any lender. The actual repayment depends on the rate, fees, and terms the lender offers after assessing the application. The default rate (7%) is set as a reasonable middle-of-the-market point; the actual rate could be higher or lower.

Partner referrals.

Every "Apply", "Get a rate", or equivalent link on this site is intended to route to our referral partner: an independent New Zealand-registered financial service provider that will handle the actual credit conversation with you. When a visitor applies through our site and the partner approves them, we receive a referral commission from the partner. You will pay nothing extra for using our referral link; the cost of the referral is carried by the partner's own margin. Our commission is fixed per approved application, so we have no incentive to recommend a particular loan amount, term, or rate. While the partner relationship is being finalised, the apply buttons open a notice that the finance partner is coming soon, and no referral occurs.

Accuracy.

We work hard to keep information current. Rates, prices, and regulatory details change, and parts of the site may be out of date by the time you read them. Where a page has a "Last reviewed" date, that is when a human last checked it. Do not rely on figures more than a few months old without confirming them with a lender.

Intellectual property.

The design, text, and calculator code on Carfinance.org.nz are our property or used under licence. You are welcome to read, share, and link to any page. You may not reproduce substantial sections of the written content, the calculator, or the site's structure on another site without our written permission. Brand names and logos belong to their respective owners and are used here for identification only.

No warranty; limitation of liability.

The site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees about the availability of the site, the accuracy of any figure, or the outcome of any application you make with our referral partner or any other lender. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, including any decision you make based on a calculator output or any guide on the site. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 to the extent those rights apply.

Governing law.

These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any dispute arising from your use of Carfinance.org.nz is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows the most recent revision. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

A car loan is a commitment that runs for years, and repayments come out of the same pay cheque as everything else. Before committing, it is worth modelling the weekly and monthly cost against the household budget, which is what this site is built to help with. Borrowing at a level that stays comfortable on a bad week, not a good one, is widely regarded as the safer frame.

Carfinance.org.nz earns a commission from a partner brand when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. That commission is paid by the partner, not the applicant, and it does not influence the rate the lender offers. We refer every visitor to the same partner because they compare multiple New Zealand lenders on the applicant's behalf, so the recommendation is not driven by a sponsored deal. Every figure shown on this site is a modelled estimate based on the inputs entered; the actual rate, fees, and repayments are set by the lender after assessing the applicant's circumstances and own credit decision. Carfinance.org.nz is a calculator and information tool. We are not a lender, not a broker, and not a registered financial adviser. Any decision about whether a specific loan suits a specific situation is best made after talking with the lender, and for amounts that materially affect the household, with a registered financial adviser.
