Intent-rich traffic
People searching for a car-loan calculator or a specific brand or amount page are already in the market. They're modelling numbers, not browsing.
We're open to proposals from New Zealand car finance brands who think they can do right by our visitors better than the current partner does.
Carfinance.org.nz reaches car buyers at the decision point, while they're still running numbers. Our visitors are looking for an honest estimate and a clear path to a formal rate. If your product is genuinely better-priced or better-placed for a specific segment of that audience, we want to hear from you.
What we offer
People searching for a car-loan calculator or a specific brand or amount page are already in the market. They're modelling numbers, not browsing.
We don't run lead forms or sell visitor details. Our referrals are explicitly disclosed. That earns trust, which converts better than a hard sell.
Our programmatic brand, model, amount, and loan-type pages rank for long-tail queries the large comparison sites don't prioritise.
What we look for in a partner
We're protective of our audience. Any partner arrangement has to hold up to basic scrutiny. Here's what a strong proposal looks like.
Advertisers must be on the NZ Financial Service Providers register and operating out of New Zealand. Offshore lenders and unregistered providers won't get past the first email.
No hidden broker fees bundled into rate, no add-on products pushed at signing. An advertiser offering a lower rate because of a credit-based structure must be willing to explain how.
Either the advertiser compares multiple NZ lenders for the customer (like our current partner), or is a single lender with clear strength in a specific segment (e.g. EV-only, commercial-only, thin-file specialist). A "me-too" offer in the mainstream won't clear the bar.
Short application, same-business-day response, clear outcome for the applicant (approved, declined, or referred). Long lead-capture funnels or high-pressure sales cadences fail our audience.
We check the FMA register before any deal. A pattern of unresolved complaints or recent regulatory action stops the conversation cold.
We are paid per approved application rather than as a share of the loan, so our incentive isn't tied to loan size or rate. Your proposal should include how that commission is structured, paid, and reconciled.
The current arrangement
The mainstream referral is held by one partner at a time. The role: a multi-lender comparison service paid per approved application, with a non-exclusive arrangement so we can refer other providers for specific niches (commercial-only, EV-only, bad-credit specialist) without touching the mainstream referral.
We review the arrangement annually and whenever a substantive new proposal lands. That means if you can demonstrate a genuinely better outcome for a segment of our audience, we'll consider running a split test, carving out a niche partnership, or in principle replacing the mainstream partner. The burden of proof sits with the challenger.
We won't run two competing mainstream referrals at once; it confuses visitors and degrades our SEO trust. Niche segmentation (by amount bracket, by loan type, by vehicle class) is where multiple partners can coexist cleanly.
How to propose a partnership
The proposals that move fastest are the ones that answer our questions before we ask. Send to partnerships@carfinance.org.nz with:
We reply to every proposal that meets the basics above within 10 business days, even if the answer is no.
If your finance product gives New Zealand car buyers a genuinely better outcome than the current default, we want to know. Email the team and we'll set up a call.
Disclaimer
A car loan runs for years, and the repayment comes out of the same pay that covers everything else. This site exists to show you that weekly number before you sign anything. The payment that catches people out is the one that's fine on a good week and tight on a bad one.
Carfinance.org.nz receives a commission from Simplify when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. We refer every visitor to the same partner because they compare multiple New Zealand lenders on the applicant's behalf, so the referral is not driven by a sponsored deal. Simplify sets its own terms and fees and discloses them directly; anything you agree to happens on their side, not ours. Every figure shown on this site is a modelled estimate based on the inputs entered; the actual rate, fees, and repayments are set by the lender after assessing the applicant's circumstances and its own credit decision. Carfinance.org.nz is a calculator and information tool. We are not a lender, not a broker, and not a registered financial adviser. Any decision about whether a specific loan suits a specific situation is best made after talking with the lender, and for amounts that materially affect the household, with a registered financial adviser.
