Fiat Ducato finance calculator Not a lender. Not a broker. The Ducato is by some distance the most numerous Fiat in New Zealand, with more than 12,000 on the Carjam fleet register, and the reason is motorhomes. The great majority of the local parc is a Ducato cab-chassis or van with a habitation body built on it, which makes it a genuinely unusual finance case: the vehicle and the fit-out are often worth more together than the van alone, and lenders treat a certified self-contained motorhome differently from a panel van. The remainder is straightforward large-format commercial work, where the Ducato competes with the Sprinter and the Transit.

Financing notes
At $35,000 over five years at 8% indicative, the weekly repayment sits near $169. A motorhome build is often financed differently from a plain van, because some lenders have a dedicated product for certified self-contained vehicles with longer terms than a commercial van attracts. Where the van is a business asset, a chattel mortgage is commonly the structure instead, and which one applies is a question for your accountant, subject to their confirmation.
Model-specific questions
It depends on the lender. Some assess a certified self-contained build under a dedicated motorhome product with a longer term than a commercial van would attract, and others treat it as an ordinary vehicle loan. The self-containment certificate and the habitation build documentation are what usually decide which path an application takes.
Commonly, since most non-motorhome Ducatos are working vehicles. Where the van is mainly a business asset a chattel mortgage generally fits better than a consumer loan, and the GST and depreciation treatment follows from that structure. Your accountant confirms which applies.
A $38,000 2017 example over five years at 8% indicative runs at roughly $184 a week, and a $62,000 later build over the same term at about $300. On a motorhome the deposit is usually larger than on a car, which the calculator above will show the effect of.
It can work either way. A professionally built, certified self-contained motorhome is generally worth more than the van underneath and lenders recognise that, while an uncertified amateur conversion can be harder to value and therefore harder to finance. The certification paperwork is what separates the two in an application.

Disclaimer
A car loan runs for years, and the repayment comes out of the same pay that covers everything else. This site exists to show you that weekly number before you sign anything. The payment that catches people out is the one that's fine on a good week and tight on a bad one.
Carfinance.org.nz receives a commission from Simplify when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. We refer every visitor to the same partner because they compare multiple New Zealand lenders on the applicant's behalf, so the referral is not driven by a sponsored deal. Simplify sets its own terms and fees and discloses them directly; anything you agree to happens on their side, not ours. Every figure shown on this site is a modelled estimate based on the inputs entered; the actual rate, fees, and repayments are set by the lender after assessing the applicant's circumstances and its own credit decision. Carfinance.org.nz is a calculator and information tool. We are not a lender, not a broker, and not a registered financial adviser. Any decision about whether a specific loan suits a specific situation is best made after talking with the lender, and for amounts that materially affect the household, with a registered financial adviser.
