Financing a Nissan Tiida in New Zealand

The Tiida was sold new in New Zealand from 2006 until 2013, when Nissan replaced it locally with two models badged Pulsar. That local history is why the Tiida parc here is unusually mixed: NZ-new cars with a full local service record sit alongside a large volume of Japanese imports of the same model. With more than 36,000 on the Carjam fleet register it is one of the most common small cars in the country, and a very common first car, which means most Tiida applications are also somebody's first credit application.

Who this suits

Who buys a Nissan Tiida?

  • First-time drivers financing a small amount on a car with a deep parts supply.
  • Second-car households wanting a cheap automatic for short daily trips.
  • Buyers wanting a hatch or a sedan in the same model at similar money.
  • Commuters on a tight budget where running cost matters more than badge.

Financing notes

What financing a Tiida usually looks like.

At $8,500 over three years at 8% indicative, the weekly repayment sits near $63. On a car in this band the vehicle's age at the end of the term is usually what caps the length rather than the amount borrowed. An NZ-new Tiida with a local service record is generally a simpler application than an import of the same year, and that shows up in the term more than in anything else.

Model-specific questions

Nissan Tiida finance FAQ.

Was the Nissan Tiida sold new in New Zealand?

Yes, from 2006 to 2013, after which Nissan replaced it locally with two models badged Pulsar. That is why the used market here carries both NZ-new Tiida stock with a local service record and a large volume of Japanese imports of the same car.

Is the Tiida the same car as the Pulsar?

They are closely related rather than identical. Nissan retired the Tiida name in New Zealand in 2013 and applied the Pulsar badge to a sedan based on the Sylphy and a hatch based on the Tiida. For finance purposes both are ordinary small-car applications and are assessed on the same basis.

Can a Tiida be financed as a first car?

Commonly yes. The amount is small and the resale market is deep, which is the combination lenders are most comfortable with on a thin file. With no credit history to read, the assessment rests on steady part-time income, a deposit, or a guarantor, and approval remains the lender's decision after its affordability check.

What does a Tiida cost per week on finance?

An $8,500 example over three years at 8% indicative works out at about $63 a week, and a $12,000 later example over four years at roughly $67. The calculator above shows how much a deposit changes each, which on a loan this size is more than most people expect.

Disclaimer

A car loan runs for years, and the repayment comes out of the same pay that covers everything else. This site exists to show you that weekly number before you sign anything. The payment that catches people out is the one that's fine on a good week and tight on a bad one.

Carfinance.org.nz receives a commission from Simplify when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. We refer every visitor to the same partner because they compare multiple New Zealand lenders on the applicant's behalf, so the referral is not driven by a sponsored deal. Simplify sets its own terms and fees and discloses them directly; anything you agree to happens on their side, not ours. Every figure shown on this site is a modelled estimate based on the inputs entered; the actual rate, fees, and repayments are set by the lender after assessing the applicant's circumstances and its own credit decision.
