Toyota Dyna finance calculator Not a lender. Not a broker. The Dyna is Toyota's light truck, and more than 6,500 are working in New Zealand as tippers, flat decks, curtainsiders and furniture trucks. It is almost never a household purchase, which makes it one of the clearest chattel mortgage cases on this site. The other thing that separates it from everything else here is the licence: depending on gross laden weight, a Dyna can require more than a class 1 car licence, and that is worth establishing before a loan is arranged rather than after.

Financing notes
At $22,000 over five years at 8% indicative, the weekly repayment sits near $106. Where the truck is a business asset a chattel mortgage is almost always the structure rather than a consumer car loan, and the GST and depreciation treatment follows from that. Which one applies is a question for your accountant, subject to their confirmation. The body fitted to the chassis often carries real value of its own, which is worth establishing before the application.
Model-specific questions
It depends on the gross laden weight of the specific truck. Lighter Dyna variants sit within class 1 while heavier ones require a higher class, and NZTA publishes the weight thresholds. It is worth establishing which applies to the exact vehicle before finance is arranged, because it affects who can legally drive the asset being financed.
Almost always as a business asset. Where the truck is mainly used in a business, a chattel mortgage is generally the structure rather than a consumer car loan, and the deductibility position follows from that. Your accountant confirms which side of the line it falls on.
It can. A tipper, curtainsider or refrigerated body is a substantial asset in its own right and a lender may value the complete vehicle rather than the cab-chassis alone. Documentation for the body build and any certification is what supports that in an application.
A $24,000 example over five years at 8% indicative runs at roughly $116 a week, and a $42,000 later truck at about $203. On a working vehicle the deposit is often larger than on a car, which the calculator above will show the effect of.
Our finance partner compares multiple NZ lenders. Calculator inputs travel through to the application, and the partner returns a formal estimate after the lender's credit assessment.
Disclaimer
A car loan runs for years, and the repayment comes out of the same pay that covers everything else. This site exists to show you that weekly number before you sign anything. The payment that catches people out is the one that's fine on a good week and tight on a bad one.
Carfinance.org.nz receives a commission from Simplify when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. We refer every visitor to the same partner because they compare multiple New Zealand lenders on the applicant's behalf, so the referral is not driven by a sponsored deal. Simplify sets its own terms and fees and discloses them directly; anything you agree to happens on their side, not ours. Every figure shown on this site is a modelled estimate based on the inputs entered; the actual rate, fees, and repayments are set by the lender after assessing the applicant's circumstances and its own credit decision. Carfinance.org.nz is a calculator and information tool. We are not a lender, not a broker, and not a registered financial adviser. Any decision about whether a specific loan suits a specific situation is best made after talking with the lender, and for amounts that materially affect the household, with a registered financial adviser.
